Dendritic Opal Specimen Cut
Both faces are polished.
Cut with the collector in mind, our specimen pieces feature the organic character of the raw stone with one or two feature faces. The cuts which create the featured faces are carefully chosen to not only display a gorgeous facet, but to allow the natural beauty of the raw stone to remain minimally altered. Faces are polished to a matte or soft gloss finish.
Turkish Dendritic Opal is known for its intricate, fern-like patterns throughout areas of opaque white and semitransparent opal.
The fine, branched black inclusions- known as dendrites- are caused by inclusions of the mineral manganese.
